How it works

Solmere Clean Slate is the fastest, gentlest way to remove press-on nails without damaging your natural nail underneath. Whether you're wearing a Solmere set or any other press-on, Clean Slate dissolves the cyanoacrylate adhesive in 5–10 minutes — no acetone, no soaking your hands in a bowl for half an hour, no prying.

How to remove press-on nails with Clean Slate (recommended)

  1. Apply 2–3 drops of Clean Slate around the base of each press-on nail, where the nail meets your cuticle.
  2. Wait 5–10 minutes. The remover breaks down the adhesive without stripping your natural nail plate.
  3. Gently lift each nail from the cuticle edge using a wooden cuticle stick as the bond loosens.
  4. If a nail resists, add a few more drops and wait another 1–2 minutes. Time releases the bond — force damages it.
  5. Wash hands with soap and water, then apply cuticle oil to re-hydrate. Total time: about 10 minutes for a full set.

How to remove press-on nails without the remover (the hard way)

If you don't have Clean Slate, the only safe alternative is a long warm soapy water soak. It works, but it's slow — your hands are out of commission for 20+ minutes, and the temptation to pick at a stubborn nail is the number-one cause of damaged natural nails.

  1. Fill a small bowl with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap.
  2. Submerge your hands fully for 10–20 minutes. You can't type, scroll, or do anything with your hands during this time.
  3. Gently wiggle each nail from the sides until it lifts. Never pull or pry — this is where most damage happens.
  4. If a nail resists, soak again for another 10–20 minutes. A stubborn thumbnail can turn a 20-minute removal into a 40-minute one.

What not to do

  • Don't pick or pry. This is the number-one cause of every "press-ons damaged my nails" complaint — it strips the top layer of keratin off your natural nail. Clean Slate exists specifically so you don't have to.
  • Don't use acetone. Acetone is for gel polish, not press-on adhesive, and it dries out your nail plate. Press-on glue is cyanoacrylate; acetone is the wrong solvent.
  • Don't file the tips down. This thins your real nail unnecessarily. Time and the right solvent are all you need.

The math is simple: 10 minutes with Clean Slate, or 20–40 minutes with hands soaking in a bowl. Both methods get the nails off without damage — only one of them respects your time.

FAQs

Honest answers about removing press-ons at home — without damage.

How do I remove press-on nails at home without damage?

The fastest, gentlest way is Solmere Clean Slate (Nail Glue Remover) — apply 2–3 drops around the base of each press-on, wait 5–10 minutes, lift gently. About 10 minutes total for a full set. No soaking, no acetone, no damage to your natural nail.

Without the remover, the only safe alternative is a 20-minute warm soapy water soak (warm water plus a few drops of dish soap). It works, but you can't use your hands during the soak, and stubborn nails can drag it out to 30–40 minutes — which is when most people get tempted to pick or pry, and that's where damage happens.

Either method: never pick or pry. That's what damages natural nails — not the press-ons themselves.

How long does Clean Slate take to dissolve press-on glue?

5–10 minutes per set. Apply a few drops around the base of each press-on, wait, then gently lift from the cuticle edge. If a nail resists, add a little more remover and wait another minute. No drilling, no filing, no damage.

Do I need acetone to remove press-on nails?

No. Acetone is for gel polish removal, not press-on adhesive, and it dries out your nail plate. Press-on adhesive (cyanoacrylate) needs a dedicated remover like Solmere Clean Slate — 5–10 minutes vs. an acetone soak, and significantly gentler on natural nails. The only safe non-remover alternative is a long warm soapy water soak (10–20 minutes), but it's slower and your hands are out of commission the whole time.

Is Clean Slate safe for natural nails?

Yes. Clean Slate is formulated to break down press-on adhesive without stripping the natural nail plate. Follow up with cuticle oil or a hand cream to re-hydrate after removal.

Will Clean Slate work on press-on nails from other brands?

Yes. Clean Slate works on any press-on nail applied with cyanoacrylate-based glue (the standard for the category). It's not formulated for press-ons applied with adhesive tabs (those release with warm soapy water alone) or for gel polish removal.

How do I use Clean Slate?

Apply a few drops around the base of each press-on nail. Wait 5–10 minutes. Gently lift each nail from the cuticle edge as the bond loosens — add a little more if needed. Wash hands and apply cuticle oil afterward.

Can I use Clean Slate to remove regular nail polish or gel polish?

It's formulated specifically for press-on nail adhesive. For gel polish removal, use a dedicated gel remover. For regular nail polish, standard nail polish remover works.

How many uses per tube?

Approximately 1-2 full removals per bottle, depending on how much product you use per nail.

Does Clean Slate come with Solmere press-on nail sets?

Yes — Clean Slate is gifted free with any Solmere order of two or more press-on nail sets. We pair them because safe removal matters as much as the nails themselves. Browse the collection to see what's available.
